Audio:
Sets up microphones and other audio gear needed for a production
in the studio. Cables the microphones and audio gear to proper
designations, then makes required patching in the audio control
room to configure the audio control room for rehearsal and
production. Operates the audio board through tests, rehearsal
and production.

Camera:
The camera feeds images to the control room based on directions
from the Director and initiated by the operator. There
are specific “rules” for operation. The camera
operator is in constant communication with the Director or
her/his designate during the production (prior to if designated,
for rehearsal or for set-up with engineering).
Computer Assistant:
Works directly with the Coordinator of Computer Services at WBGU-PBS
to maintain all computer systems and their services to the
staff and clients of the enterprise. These systems and services
include: Macintosh desktop computers, PC desktop computers, a full suite of desktop software applications,
file servers, e-mail server, web servers, broadcast servers/network, non-linear editing systems and various other digital video software/hardware. This individual
will work directly with staff members and students in training and support
roles. Familiarity and experience with Mac OS, Windows, Networking,
Internet applications and HTML is necessary. Experience with Filemaker, MySQL and PHP is helpful, but not required.
Development Assistant:
The development assistant has duties that encompass development,
fundraising and membership. Job duties include keeping members
accounts up-to-date, processing checks, customer service and
mailing thank-you gifts. This person also has an active role
in the station’s on-air pledge drives, helping with behind-the-scenes
tasks and data entry.
Editor:
Edits footage from various sources within the Final Cut Pro non-linear
environment.
EFP/1 and EFP/3:
The EFP/1 person is responsible for setting up and recording
audio on-location, and
may also carry other equipment and take
on other duties as necessary to complete the production. The
EFP/3 person exhibits knowledge in the application of television field video and audio
recording through the proper manipulation of industrial-quality
field
video cameras.
Floor:
The Director’s designate in the studio. Responsible for
directing the crew in the studio (cameras, prompter and production
assistants) prior to (in preparing the studio for the production)
and after the production (“striking” the set-up).
Responsible for all communication to the Talent.
Font:
Composes on screen graphics (“character generation,” names,
titles, etc.) and double-checks all spelling. Calls up recorded
graphics on cue from Director during the production.
Graphic Artist/Designer:
The Graphic Artist/Designer must be capable of producing various
print material and
on-air graphics and 2-D animation. Strong abilities with
graphics programs are required (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Motion).

Lighting:
The lighting person exhibits knowledge in the application
of
television lighting theory through the proper selection
and
use of lighting instruments, and execution of one,
two, three
and four point lighting on a variety of sets.
Outreach Assistant:
Assists in assembling and organizing materials for educational
outreach workshops.
This person also assists in maintaining
a database of childcare providers, after-school agencies and
parent participants, and records of workshops and numbers of
persons served through educational outreach; writing and creating
Family Activity Pages for the Ready to Learn First Book programs;
and providing clerical support as needed.
Production Assistant:
Provides support when directed by any member of the production
crew with priority given to Director, Switcher and Floor, and
may be required to perform television production skills (studio
and/or field).
Promotion Assistant:
Performs a variety of tasks, including writing drafts of press
releases and other publicity materials, assist with writing
for program guide and with special projects, and other tasks
as assigned to support public relations/promotions activities.
Prompter:
Operates the teleprompter during studio productions. Assures
hook-up of teleprompter
with cameras and rehearses with Talent.
Receptionist/Switchboard Operator:
This position is the first contact the public has with the
station, either in person or on
the phone. The receptionist greets
all visitors and directs them to the proper person
or department.
Switcher:
Performs “visual mixing” under the direction of the
Director. Is the Director’s control designate when he/she
is not present in the control room. Oversees tests are being
performed and technical considerations are handled by appropriate
persons.
Traffic Assistant:
Uses the software ProTrack to insert interstitial material to fill breaks in the daily broadcast log. Also responsible for checking and correcting program lengths and sources, and performing other clerical duties as deemed necessary. Must be detailed oriented.
Master Control Operator:
Watches four different program services, monitors the automated program logs, fills out quality control check sheets and makes proper corrections to the transmitter, it necessary. Monitors EAS and NOAA weather radio, to inform viewers of weather or other emergencies. Digitizes program material onto the video server for broadcast. Works with several different computers and interfaces. Be familiar with a wide range of broadcast equipment in order to handle unexpected problems concerning on-air operations. Be responsible for building security by identifying and admitting people after hours.
TLS Assistant:
Assists the Coordinator of Television Learning Services (TLS) in
the operation of the Digital Video Streaming Service (DVSS)
serving Bowling Green State University.
TLS Production Assistant:
The TLS production assistant is responsible for the operation
of production equipment at Olscamp Hall for the distance learning
rooms. They must connect to distance sites using
IP video conferencing
technology, and switch between different sources to provide
distance sites with class continuity.
Web Assistant:
Works with the Director of Promotion and Public Relations to
update the station’s
website with current information.
The person in this position needs a working knowledge
of web
design, video compression and related web technologies, and
a proficiency in HTML coding.
